The Best Baked Goods are in Orange County

Let’s talk pastries, breads & bagels! Today we’re traveling south to Orange County where you’ll find - in my humble opinion - a way stronger selection of pastries than LA. Gasp! In the same spirit as OC + the rise in coffee culture, there is some serious baking going down just an hour south of LA. Here’s a rundown of my top picks and what makes them great!

Eller Bakery - Costa Mesa

Eller > !!! Please just take a look at giant cinnamon roll & GIGANTIC cinnamon roll!! Eller’s pastries & breads are top notch and they have a great selection to boot. My top pick!

Rye Goods - Newport Beach / Laguna Beach / Tustin (multiple locations)

Rye Goods is taking over OC and I am very okay with that! Also amazing selection of pastries, including weekend specials. Need to grab a loaf + try their breakfast next visit!

Boil & Bake - Costa Mesa

Boil & Bake is making unreal bagel sandwich combos. I am still dreaming about the longanisa sausage + aji bagel I had back in December!

Chaupain - Laguna Hills (multiple locations)

Chaupain sits more traditional/French-style baking, but they also have a full menu on top of their pastries & cakes. Loved grabbing some fun dips along with our baked goods for a picnic!

Haute Cakes Caffe - Newport Beach

Haute Cakes is known for their pancakes which is baked good adjacent? But they also have some delicious pastries + take & bake cookies! Couldn’t leave this one out.

Juliette’s - Newport Beach

Juliette’s is a sweet little cafe in Newport - easy for walking up/grab & go but they also have a full sit-down restaurant!

Balboa Island Baking Co - Balboa Island

Balboa Baking Co is just a classic! Family-owned business that has passed down their cinnamon roll recipe over 40 years. I was too focused on consuming the cinnamon roll to take good content but HERE is cinny girl in her full effect with the icing treatment. Doughy goodness!

And finally, I leave you with this - my croissant lamp, an early birthday gift from dad. Thanks dad! I summoned some serious power from her while I wrote this carb-forward post.
