With summer around the corner and LA exiting the insane rainy season, there’s some really good energy in the air and people are ready to be outside. Sun’s out, we’re out! I’ve been seeing a ton of epic pop-up announcements recently, which inspired me to talk about the art of collaboration and how LA’s food & arts scene does it so well.
I attribute a lot of credit towards pop ups and “mash ups” in LA, as that’s how I’ve discovered a ton of new restaurants, artisans and venues in the city. Whether a wine brand I follow is pouring at a DJ event or one of my favorite restaurants is hosting a guest chef, these types of opportunities create a sense of newness and inspiration. It’s something a jaded person like me is desperately craving, especially after living in LA for 8+ years. Trends become stale quickly here, we move at a high frequency and there’s always something bigger and better to seek out (and frankly, spend your hard-earned cash on). These pop-ups and mash-ups keep things interesting!
Here are some of my favorite collaboration events from recent years, and don’t miss the weekly event digest this week - it’s exclusively dedicated to collabs AND I’m sharing events for next week too so you can block your calendar now!

Favorite Recent Artisan Mash-Up: Frogtown Flea Crawl, a flea market hosting a number of vendors and artisans from across the city! Check out the event recap Reel here and check out my event digest below for deets on the next one (they are going to be hosted monthly!)
Favorite Recent Food Mash-Up: “Topo Chico De Mayo” at Prince Street Pizza Venice, hosting Tacos 1986 and featuring an exclusive Mexican-style pizza collab for the holiday! Flyer here, be sure to follow PSP and Tacos 1986 to keep tabs on their next events!
Favorite Recent Wine x Venue Mash-Ups:
Wonderwerk x Link Up Worldwide - ICYMI - Wonderwerk crafted a NATURAL WINE ICE LUGE at the Link Up event in April. Insane. I’m so sad I missed this. Overall - Link Up is always a blast and I highly recommend for people looking for a Sunday funday / to dance out the Sunday scaries.
Las Jaras Wine x Vin on Rose - Eric & Joel have been crushing the wine events since Las Jaras started. Always a blast, and this Vin on Rose event last Friday looked so fun!
Favorite Recent Food x Venue Mash-Up: Woon at Braindead Studios! Pictured above - Woon is on heavy rotation at Slammer’s Cafe and I love it. Little Fish can also be found here on the regular. Follow Braindead HERE to keep tabs on the next one (and also discover their epic movie lineup)!
Favorite Recent Food x Apparel Mash-Ups:
Family Style Fest - The Hundreds’ annual food x apparel fest goes down every summer at CBS studios. Follow @familystylefest to keep tabs on this year’s dates + lineup!
Jon & Vinny’s x Madhappy - J&V’s is featured 3x in this newsletter. They are the kings of cool collaboration. I personally own the teal sweatshirt from last year’s collection and wear it frequently (similar here) - and I’m tempted to buy more merch, especially this Beverly Hills 90210 shirt! They also currently have a collab running with Meals Clothing - see here.
