91+ Ways You Can (Still) Help With Fire Relief
Los Angeles needs you right now - the work is far from over
Hi everyone,
Transparently, I wrote the body of this newsletter first and saved the preamble for last - because I’ve struggled to find an opening that doesn’t sound exactly like everything else you’ve heard over the past couple of weeks. What a crazy start to the year. I hope you’re all doing well and staying safe. I’m so sick of living in unprecedented times - give us precedent! Do you know anyone who’s been personally affected by the fires? Do you need any N95s? Do you own an air purifier? Is the AQI on the Weather app accurate? WatchDuty is my new favorite social media app. *Insert panicked phone call from relative that lives across the country and has no idea what’s going on ~here~* Not to mention the whiplash of TikTok and inauguration of Tr**p this week.
In light of the above :) I hope you all are doing okay and finding moments of peace and happiness despite it all. Sending endless amounts of love & hugs to each and every one of you!
It’s been hard for me to think about anything but the fires over the past couple of weeks, so I appreciate your patience as I worked through what TTS looks like for right now. As many of you know TTS as an information resource and a curator of things you should know about in LA - I wanted to make my own version of a master fire relief resource.
Below, you’ll find 91+ different links connecting you with ways to help - whether it’s simply reading an article to learn more about what’s going on in Los Angeles, buying a new piece of art as a form of donation, or volunteering your time IRL. Any gesture is helpful right now - big or small.
My heart aches for my city, and as much as I’m filled with gratitude for the community that’s shone through over the past couple of weeks - I’m equally terrified and saddened by our new reality & what’s ahead. This newsletter is an attempt to help, and hopefully connect you with resources you may not have. I wrote the title as “91+ Ways You Can (Still) Help With Fire Relief” because this is far from over, and we have to fight the social media-fueled, warp speed news cycle. As much as I understand people trying to move forward and find a sense of normalcy - we have to keep the momentum and continue to do our part in the weeks, months, years to come.
Thanks in advance for reading, and feel free to share anything I may have missed. I promise to keep adding as I uncover more!
