4 Ideas For An Anti-Social Day in LA
So you want to leave the house, but avoid talking to anyone in the process...
After traveling for 3 weeks and celebrating my 30th birthday, lately I’ve been craving some alone time. But with the gorgeous 70s and sunny springtime weather we’re having, it can feel like a waste sitting inside all day. So this week, I present to you - 4 activities that get you out of the house, but require little to no interaction with other people :)

Wander The Mart Collective in Venice - The Mart Collective is a 16,000 square foot space in Venice hosting over 100 different antique dealers. This place is covered in knick knacks, furniture, and artwork - and offers plenty of quiet nooks and corners for you to hide from other people :) you can truly spend hours in this place wandering the booths!
Make a day out of it: Head down the block to Superba Food + Bread for coffee + a pastry, or lunch after. If you’re feeling even more shopping & perusing, check out Venice Love Shack across the street - a hippie, eclectic lot filled with furniture pieces and psychedelic art.
Grab a bagel and camp out at Ocean View Park in Santa Monica - If you haven’t already heard, Layla Bagels in Ocean Park has quickly entered the LA bagel power rankings and get this - you can order two different halves of bagels, which is a pretty sweet deal for someone who likes to maximize a menu (me). Take your bagel to go and post up at Ocean View Park, a grassy hill overlooking Santa Monica Beach.
Make a day out of it: Although you could spend the whole day sunbathing at the park, Main St is just one block over and offers plenty of shops and restaurants to explore. Grab a kombucha flight at Juneshine, or a glass of natural wine at Bar Cou Cou.
Skip your boring meal prep and stroll the aisles of Silom Supermarket in Thai Town for dinner - Silom is a small Asian specialty grocery store, and I always make my way here when I’m feeling uninspired in the kitchen and need some new ideas. I love picking up ingredients to make spring rolls, and 9 times out of 10, I’m also indulging in some very unhealthy snacks like shrimp chips and Pocky too.
Make a day out of it: Thai dessert shop Bhan Kanom Thai sits right next door - pick up some unique sweet treats to eat after dinner (because you deserve it)
Curl up with a book at the library - As you all probably know by now, I am basically a Los Angeles Public Library brand ambassador. Going out with a bang, here’s 3 different library experiences with mini itineraries:
Make a day out of it, West Hollywood - I love the West Hollywood library - floor to ceiling windows overlooking the Pacific Design Center, and very comfy lounge chairs. After you’re done reading and people watching out the windows, head down the block to Great White or The Butcher’s Daughter for a bite to eat.
Make a day out of it, Altadena - a mid century gem that transports you right back to the 60s when it was originally built. This branch is located along the historic Christmas Tree Lane - even when it isn’t Christmastime, the towering trees covering both sides of the street are a sight to see. Head down the block after your visit and order a slice at Side Pie.
Make a day out of it, Downtown - the Central Library downtown is the birthplace of LAPL, filled with rich Los Angeles history and amazing architecture. After you explore every floor and get some reading in too, take a 10 min walk down the street to Grand Central Market - where you will find a plethora of food and drink options to cap off the day.
